North Wales Engagement Shoot: Amy & Simon

on Sunday, I headed down to my favourite area in the World, North Wales. From shooting weddings, Engagement Shoots or even just holidays, Wales is fantastic.
Amy & Simon are getting married in Plas Isaf, Corwen, North Wales. It is a fantastic venue, and I can’t wait to return there in June to photograph Amy & Simon’s wedding.

Amy’s favourite place in the world is Castell Dinas Bran, Llangollen. This is an old Welsh Castle Ruin, on top of a steep hill several hundred feet high. As I was walking up it, I though I must have been crazy for agreeing to walk up this hill with some of my camera gear, so very steep. But like most things that are hard to reach, it was so worth it, even on this windy and rain threatening day.

Amy and Simon are both lovely people, Amy works in a primary school, and Simon is an IT geek. Amy is always quick with a smile and a laugh and Simon is quick to help Amy do both. These guys are a fantastic couple, and I can tell that their wedding day is going to be fun.

Cottons Hotel, Knutsford, Cheshire Wedding: Susan and Paul

Last Saturday I had a blast photographing the wedding of Susan and Paul, I started off with the girls at The Cottons Hotel, Knutsford, Cheshire. The first thing Susan mentioned when I got there, was how bad Everton had been in their recent FA Cup game, in fact we’d traded emails on the subject, with us both being Blues. But more than football chat, this told me how relaxed Susan was, which was great as she had seemed a little nervous in some of her emails.

Susan and her Bridesmaids where a great laugh, and all super relaxed. Make Up and Hair all went by really fast and the excitement levels grew. It was now time to head off to meet up with Paul and the boys.

The boys, a really close group of friends, who laughed as much as they talked. I could see it was going to be a fun day, and I wasn’t disappointed. After a few pics with Paul and his Bestman, it was time for the main guy to enter, Susan and Pauls son, Joseph. What a cute guy he is, you can already see he is going to be a heart breaker. Once the ceremony was over, it was time to head outside for some photographs, before heading upstairs for the speeches.

Once the speeches where over it was time for me to leave, but it was obvious that it was going to be a fun night for Matt Tolley at Cheshire Wedding DJ. Anyway, time for some images. Oh and I should point out that Paul is a Red!!! But it’s ok, some of us marry people from the other side, it helps keep up public relations, and you never know, they might learn something from us too

UK Wedding Photography: Naomi and Gavin

I was enjoying a relaxing weekend away, when I received a call from my cousin, to say he was getting married!! A Week on Monday, in secret. I was one of a very small number of people now in on it…eeek!!! The wedding was to take place in Carlisle Registry Office. A 2 and a bit hour drive up the M6 and I was in Carlisle, trying to drive about in a stealthy manner, in a car with my name on it, I made it to his house without being seen!! Bonus!

The ceremony was attended by Gavin and Naomi, their two daughters, Erin and Alex, two witnesses, the officiants and myself. The girls had a great time having the run of the room. Afterwards, it was time to let people know.

I had a wonderful day catching up with family, it was such a relaxed wedding day, and everyone quickly forgave them for keeping the secret.

Carden Park, Cheshire Wedding Photographer: Claire and Ste

A while back, I photographed the wedding of Claire and Ste at Carden Park Hotel near Chester, Chesire. I was a beautiful day, back at one of my favourite churches, St Michaels, in Runcorn for the ceremony, then a little drive to Carden Park.

It was a fantastic wedding, a real coming together of 1 big family, it’s a pleasure to see two families coming together as one. Carden Park is a fun venue to be a photographer at. I already knew Ste’s brother Mike, from a long way back, so it’s always good to catch up with people.

Wrenbury Hall Cheshire Wedding Photography: Julia and Paul

Way back in August I shot a wonderful wedding at a wonderful venue, Wrenbury Hall with a wonderful couple, Julia and Paul. It also had my favourite DJ, Matt Tolley, Cheshire Wedding DJ, it is always a pleasure to work with Matt, a guy who always has the dance floor full.

I started my day at Wrenbury Hall with Paul, as Julia didn’t want any preparation shots. When I started shooting for other photographers, I used to head of with the guys first, so it was nice to do it again here. Guys are so much more relaxed than the girls, until it comes to putting in the button holes and sorting the cravat. Once the guys were ready, I drove to Julia’s parents home to meet Julia before she set off to the Church. I wasn’t allowed down the front of the church, luckily they had a balcony, so I was able to get some photographs of the ceremony.

Once the ceremony was done, and guests had been mingled with and a quick couple of pictures of our couple, we headed back for the formal shots, which we just about managed to finish before the rain started (thank you British weather).

I really loved Wrenbury Hall, it was a great venue, that was big enough to hold one heck of a swinging party, but with some smaller rooms away from the main room that it can still feel like a really intimate affair.

Julia and Paul had put a lot of effort into their first dance and it showed, many couples end up shuffling around the dance floor feeling a little daft (myself included) so it’s really nice to see a couple go for it.

Belle Epoque Wedding Photography: Rachel and Andy’s Cheshire Wedding

I thought it only fair that I update you on my weddings. Way back to the beginning of August I photographed a wonderful wedding for Rachel and Andy. I began the day with Rachel and the girls at her mum’s home. It was a home full of photographs, which I could have gotten lost in as each had a wonderful story to tell. As the girls were making themselves even more stunning, I headed upstairs to photograph the dress, and the shoes.

Once Rachel was in her dress, I headed over to the Belle Epoque to meet up with the boys, what a cool yet intimate venue this is. The Belle Epoque has a style all of it’s own, a uniqueness about it, that attracts highly stylish couples to it. I could see straight away what had made Rachel and Andy fall in love with the venue.

The room where they got married was a bit of a tight fit for all the guests, and I was lucky to find a spot at the front, thankfully the registrars where lovely and saved me a spot. Another wonderful ceremony, I am so lucky finding couples who put so much effort into their wedding to make it personal, a beautiful poem wrote by Rachel’s sisters, which they later gave to the couple in a frame.

After the ceremony, we hit the formal photos, we had a lot to get through at this wedding, thankfully we got them finished with just enough time to get a shot of our couple before it was time for the meal. The speeches again showed how much this meant to everyone, and how close they all are.

I managed to steal our bride and groom away for some more photos of them, before it was time for the evening reception, cutting of the cake and the first dance to begin. Once again, I headed home with that happy feeling of having been involved in something amazing.

Wedding Photography: James and Becky

Back in July I traveled down the M5 to Tewkesbury, for the wedding of my cousin, James to the gorgeous Becky. I was also the photographer for the day, although my awesome assistant Joshy was also there .

2012 has been a funny year for the weather, and the run up to this day had been a bit wet, so we weren’t overly optimistic for the big day, however it was a beautifully sunny day.

I started off the day, at the home of Becky’s mum with the girls getting ready, this is always a fun part of the day, and also one of the craziest, and today was no exception, with the girls all having fun and growing more excited as the time grew closer to the wedding.

Becky’s dad arrived and everyone was ready to see the bride in her dress for the first time. There was a second or two of speechlessness, before everyone could find their voice and tell Becky how stunning she looked.

At this point it was time for me to head to the church, to meet cousin James and Bestman, cousin Scott. once the ceremony was done, it was time to head over to the Frogmill Hotel. A beautifully setout room, decorated with some bunting made by the children that James teaches.

Cheshire Wedding Photographer: Katy & Graham Sneak

Yesterday, I had a blast at the wedding of Katy and Graham, at St Micheal’s Church in Runcorn (my third visit this year) It is a fantastic Church.
Afterwards we were at the Forrest Hills, Frodsham, Cheshire.

Chester Wedding Photography: Eleri & Tim Eshoot

The problem with falling behind on blogging, in order to keep up with getting images and albums out to couples, is you forget where you’re up to. I’m pretty sure that this one never got blogged, as it was really last minute.

I met Tim & Eleri about 2 1/2 weeks before their wedding, after being booked months earlier, via email.

We had a little walk around Chester, where we chatted about this, that and everything…but quite a lot about their wedding. They informed me that they are both Doctors, working many, many hours, so it was nice for them to have a bit of time off together, even if I tagged along playing gooseberry .

The weather in the run up had been terrible, we were expecting to be dashing in and out of the rain to get some pictures. But on the day it was fabulous, it actually set the trend for the wedding day.
