Cheshire Portrait Photography: My Boy is a BIG FIVE.

Today is Joshy’s birthday, he is FIVE!!! I can’t believe my little boy is now a big boy, in school and FIVE.

He had his party on Sunday, and afterwards we nipped to the studio to take a few pictures, whilst he was all dressed up as Superman.

Happy Birthday Pal, Love you so very much.

Manchester Photography: Another family day out!

With us all being off together this week, we’ve headed out a few times, although Wednesday I was off by myself to hear a great photographer give a talk about Wedding Photography, Joe Buissink. This guy has shot for so may Hollywood stars, Steven Spielberg rates him as one of his favourite photographers and Joe photographed his 60th birthday party!! That being said, Joe is still pretty down to earth, and loves passing on knowledge to help other photographers learn.

But enough about that, this is all about our family day out to Manchester Trafford Centre and the Legoland Discovery Centre there. What a fantastic day we had there…..if you’ve not been, then get there and try it out.

Firstly we met Prof Brick who gave us a tour of his factory, we then took a walk around miniland, way cool. Josh got to jump into the lego and had a great time building things…..we then headed into the 4D cinema (yes people, 4D….you have to see it).

Car building and racing was also lots of fun, Josh even came 1st in a race and grabbed himself a certificate. After he put the car down the jump track, right into the BOX OF DOOM!!!! most cars break apart here….not Josh’s still in one piece, we Heesom’s know how to build cars eh;)

Josh then hit the soft play area, and we struggled to get him off there, to go build an Elephant…not a full size one, that would take a while;)

We all had a fantastic day, and can not wait to go back.

Cheshire Photography: A very useful bit of information

Hey guys, I’ve not posted much of late as I have been letting the review and competition run it’s course.

A bit of information has been going round lately from iCAN (nowt to do with the folks at Apple I don’t think), regarding photography and photographers.
It appears that trading standards have been getting a number of complaints lately regarding photography, which is a shame as we all then get tarred with the same brush as it were.

I pride myself with being honest with people, and not hiding pricing or charges from people, and I know this sometimes makes me appear to be more expensive than some other people, and it has lost me some work…..but I can sleep at night;)

Anyway here is the message…pass it round to people, make sure they don’t fall for it.

iCAN MESSAGE FOR MEMBERS

After a number of recent complaints Warrington & Halton Trading Standards service are warning residents to show caution when dealing with photographic studios or people offering photo shoots. The complaints that have been received range from people who have been hit by unexpected charges, through to those who are unhappy with the service that has been provided. Trading Standards would like to offer the following advice:

Don’t be tempted to do business with photographic studios who call you out of the blue. If you are considering having photos taken, be sure to shop around and seek recommendations from friends and relatives.

Make sure that you know who you are dealing with and do not pass on your bank details unless you are convinced of the legitimacy of who you are dealing with.

Be fully aware of any terms and conditions that are attached to agreements for a shoot. Trading Standards have information about people who have cancelled appointments only to find that amounts of money have been removed from their bank accounts at a later stage.

Confirm what any photographs will cost before the shoot. Some consumers have expressed shock at the amount of money that they have been expected to part with for photographs. This seems to particularly be the case where the initial shoot has been offered for free, or at a reduced rate.

Warrington & Halton Trading Standards would urge consumers to exercise the usual caution when dealing with photographic companies as they would with other traders. If you have any concerns please call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06.

And to leave you on a good note, he is a picture of Josh doing some creative work the other morning.

Louise and Issac are getting married July 11th at Carden Hall. In the heart of the Cheshire countryside, it makes the perfect venue for weddings, and makes life pretty easy for the photographer.
I met up with them today so we could have a walk round the venue, and photograph their engagement shoot.

We had a walk round the hotel and found air hockey

Issac is a wee bit competitive – I think Louise looks more than a little scared to be playing against him.

We then went on a little walk round the grounds of the hotel, looks like there are so many awesome places to shoot.
