Cheshire Wedding Photographer: Sarah and John, Alderley Edge Hotel Wedding

A couple of weeks back, I headed to the Alderley Edge Hotel, in Cheshire to Photograph the wedding of Sarah and John. I arrived early in the day, to photograph the preparations of Sarah and the girls, they had a gorgeous suite, right at the top of the hotel, with a bathroom about the size of my living room;). Sarah was so very relaxed, I don’t think I’ve met many brides as relaxed.

After capturing the girls getting hair and makeup done, I headed to the opposite side of the hotel to meet John, and his bestwoman. John was also very relaxed and chilled, and admiring the present that Sarah had gotten for him, a pair of football boots, owned by Paul Scholes, signed, and framed. Now, may be a god time to point out that not only is John a massive Man Utd fan, both Sarah and John both work for Man Utd. John had the boots pride of place on the bed, and was weighing up how to get them along on his honeymoon.

John’s bestwoman, Cate is also a big Utd fan, and John had managed to get her a pair of boots from Nemanja Vidic, and the first thing for Cate to do, is try them on!

Time was drawing near for the wedding, and still all was calm, it was making me nervous;)I helped the guys with their button holes, took a few shots and headed back to see how the girls were doing. At last, Nerves!! I felt better, now. Sarah was starting to feel a little nervous, but it was more to do with wanting to down stairs to marry her man!

The ceremony was beautiful, full of smiles and tears of joy. After the ceremony we had time for the group shots and a few couple shots before food and the speeches. I get to hear a lot of speeches, as you might guess. I love it, when people give honest, from the heart speeches above just getting jokes from the internet….the odd one thrown in now and then, can be pretty funny, but the best ones are from the heart. They tell you about the couple, you get to know them, and often get to know some pretty dark secrets about the groom. all the speeches here were brilliant, and a pleasure to listen too.

After the speeches, I got Sarah and John out for a few more photos, it was then time for the first dance, but not before John had a little surprise for his new wife, who happens to be a massive Stone Roses fan, in fact (and this really was a first) They had Sally Cinnamon, as their first dance. A signed picture from the Stone Roses, Sarah couldn’t have been any happier.

OK, on to the pictures, I hope you enjoy.

Wirral Wedding Photography: Ness Gardens Pre Wedding Shoot – Alison and Matthew

Wowsers, this post has been difficult to get to you guys. Some lovely person decided to HACK my webserver!!!! so it’s been a slow process sorting everything and testing, and tweaking settings (Thank You Geo for doing this!)

The other Saturday I met up with Alison and Matthew for their Eshoot (also known as a Pre Wedding Shoot). Alison and Matthew decided on Ness Gardens as the location, after the Sun over the past week, this overcast day almost felt like a let down, until you realise that us photographers love natures Softbox, the sky becomes this beautiful giant soft light, meaning no harsh shadows, no squinting.

We took a little walk around the gardens, just chatting to start with as I find this helps people relax, especially if their not used to being in front of the camera – in fact Alison is used to being behind the camera, and we generally don’t do as well on the other side of the lens, but Alison nailed it!

Alison and Matthew were a bit nervous, although, there really was no need. People sometimes forget, that photographers really want you to look good, unless you have a daft personality, we don’t want you to look daft. This makes us look bad;)

We got chatting about how they met at a local pub, Matthew watching football, seeing Alison and suddenly forgetting anything else, and about how romantic Matt, proposed in the Lake District. These guys really are a sweet couple, who fit so well together.

I’m pretty sure this is going to be a fun wedding!

This was also my first couple shoot with the new camera….oh my, I LOVE IT!

North West Wedding Photographer: The Winners 2011

My Apologies for taking a while in getting this shot up, with Paul working abroad and Jayne now being an international jet setter, it’s been tough to get everyone together.

But on Thursday evening we managed to do just that. I called round with their prize for the 2011 Review. Jayne picked the image and I had this wonderful Di-Wall Art made for them. I love it, and I was a little reluctant to hand it over.

It was great to catch up with the happenings of Jayne and Paul, a real great couple.

Northwest Band Photography: An Evening with Take Phat

Where to start? Take Phat is made up of four wonderful guys, Si, Clarkey, Oz & Faz. Si, Clarkey and I actually go way back to the old days, when I had long hair, and played guitar in a band called, Almost. The year was 1997, I started my music course, not knowing anyone, all I had was my guitar and a handful of dreams. Day One, some loud kid, would never shut up…and I mean ever, he talked all the time….soon, it was my turn to be talked at, played to…then asked what I could play. Crap! erm! first thing that came to mind was Layla, by Eric Clapton – but the unplugged version.

Next thing, this loud kid (I say kid, he was nearly 2 years young than me), was dragging me round to meet his friend and show him what I could play. The loud one was Simon, he still talks a lot! His mate, Peter Clarke. Back then Si played drums, and comparisons to Animal (from The Muppets) were pretty accurate. Almost was born, we needed a Bassist (Cliffey – but he doesn’t feature much in the rest of this story), we toured Runcorn & Widnes, far and wide our Roadies (parents) drove us, all the way from the top end of Widnes, to the bottom end of Runcorn, we didn’t quite make it out of the Northwest.

Then times changed, musical differences happened and we went our separate ways. I still have one of our jam sessions on cassette tape somewhere.

Simon got in touch via facebook, and said that these guys needed some pictures taken. The date was set, and we all met up. It was like stepping back in time, laughing and joking just like we always had. But it was time to get to work. I was treated to a couple of songs first, what can I say….they were brilliant. I took some shots of the guys performing, then it was time to get some group and individual shots of the guys. Then they sprung on me that they had brought clown suits and make up with them. I’ve read IT, by Stephen King. Clowns are pretty freaky, but I’m a professional – I could handle four grown men, dressed as clowns, occasionally gyrating against each other (at least my therapist tells me, I’ll get through it). Clown suits and make up on, I took a shot of each of them, as they were ready.

A couple of group shots and I then got treated to more songs, brilliant! On to the pics!

Thanks for a great evening guys, I had a real blast, catching up and hanging out with you.

This is the lads version of Take That and Party;)

Cheshire Wedding Photography: 2011 Review and Competition

Well 2011, it’s now behind us. It was a year with ups and downs…I chose to shoot a few less weddings this year as we moved house (which happened later than we hoped), but I also ended up with 4 cancelled weddings:(
On the happy side, I did make some amazing new friends in 2011, and caught up with some old ones.I also Photographed some fantastic weddings. I truly, am blessed to be able to do what I do. At the end of 2011, I also managed to find some space to set up my studio gear – so expect to see quite a bit more of that over the next few months.

Please vote for your favourite image below, the couple with the most votes will win a fabulous prize from me. a 24×16 inch Di Wall Art Print. These things have to be seen, they are simply stunning.

So don’t forget to vote, tell your friends, get them to tell their friends and so on and so on. The winning image received over 4000 votes last year, which was down to some very hard work on the couples part.

The Closing date is 31 January, when I get on to check the votes some time in the morning, I’ll take a screen shot and announce the winner later that day.

So on with the images.
